President Trump Invites Families of Shot Guard Members to the Presidential Residence
Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He noted that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Tragic Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
White House Offer
The president stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Support
Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in the capital.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that educators hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Steps and Policy Changes
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event led the government to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to owners of travel documents.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit the family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” he told the audience at the service. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
