Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking representative commented the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
